In 2003, the group has completed Forum Mall – India’s first mall to integrate shopping with cinemas. It was re-invention of retail science, never before had anyone ventured to design a structure where a multiplex would sit on top of a mall. It worked wonders, drawing the people through the mall corridors, maximizing shop front visibility and encouraging walk-ins.
The Washington Post cited Forum as ‘the edifice of a resurgent Bengal’.
Far Eastern Economic Review called it ‘emblematic of Kolkata’s new found confidence’.
In 2003, the Telegraph stated that more people visited Forum Mall than the Alipore Zoo and the National Museum put together.
